KARACHI, Aug 18: A young man committed suicide in his house in Malir on Sunday evening.
Police said that Francis, aged 20, killed himself by consuming poison in his house in Punjabi Para, Malir, in the police limits of Saudabad.
The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post- mortem.
ACID ATTACK: Unknown persons threw acid on a young woman and dumped her in Clifton on Sunday.
Sources at the JPMC said that a woman, Parveen, aged 24, wife of Munir, was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. She had burns all over her face and body.
Sources said that the woman was kidnapped by unknown persons. The kidnappers threw acid on the woman and dumped her at a roadside.
Police, however, drew a blank about the incident.
SHOT DEAD: Bandits shot a vegetable seller on Jehangir Road No 1 on early Sunday morning.
Police said that a group of vegetable sellers were on their way to Sabzimandi from Shireen Jinnah Colony on a Suzuki pick-up (KE-4605) when they were intercepted by four armed men on Jehangir Road No 1, in the police limits of Jamshed Quarters.
As the bandits were demanding cash from the vegetable sellers, Liaquat, aged 30, put up resistance to them and tried to overpower one of the bandits. One of the bandits opened fire on Liaquat who was injured.
DIES: A man who had been injured by firing of unidentified persons in Gulzar-i-Hijri on late Saturday night died in a hospital on Sunday.
Police said that two men, Abdul Rahman, aged 50, and Ghulam Haider, aged 60, were injured when unknown persons opened fire on them in Gulzar-i-Hijri on late Saturday night.
