WASHINGTON, Nov 7: The foreign ministers of Pakistan and India are likely to meet when the two are in New York during the United Nations General Assembly session beginning on 10th.

No confirmation of the meeting is available, but this appears to be the general expectation in diplomatic circles in Washington.

There are hopes also that a meeting might be possible between Gen Pervez Musharraf and Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, but the Indian prime minister in recent statements seems to have ruled this out. The two leaders will be in New York on Saturday and Sunday, and both will address the General Assembly. The two will also be separately meeting President George Bush, Gen Musharraf in New York on Saturday and Mr Vajpayee in Washington a day earlier.
