KARACHI, Aug 17: To complete its stringing under the KESC sixth power project, the KESC double-circuit Baldia-Mauripur overhead transmission line will remain under shutdown on Aug 18 and Aug 25 for a duration of about 10 hours starting at 8am, says a press release.
“As a result power supply to all consumers getting power from Hub, Vinder, Uthal and Bela grid stations as well as those fed from mobile grid connected at Baldia will be affected,” it says.
The press release adds that the feeders of the mobile grid which will be switched off are Sindh Constabulary, pole 29, Jam Sahib Saeedabad and Alif Laila while the affected areas will be Mwach Goth, sector 5G, 4, 3 and 8 of Saeedabad and Baldia.
According to the press release, a similar shutdown of 132-KV Gulistan-i-Jauhar-Malir circuit will be taken from Aug 19 to Aug 31 under the same sixth power sector project. “As a result of this there may be loadshedding of about 10 MW during peak evening hours in areas fed from Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Civic Centre and Liaquatabad grid stations. Areas which may face power interruption from 6pm to midnight will include all blocks of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, some parts of F.B. Area, KDA Scheme 33, Metroville, Mohammad Ali Housing Society, P.I.B. Colony, Jamshed Road, all blocks of Liaquatabad and Nazimabad block 1 and 4.”
CAMPAIGN: The KESC is starting a massive disconnection drive against electricity bill defaulters on Friday, said a KESC spokesman here on Thursday, adds PPI.
He said that since October 1999 the corporation offered three relief packages to facilitate the electricity bill defaulters but still about 250,000 electricity consumers had not cleared their dues.
First time in the history of the corporation an incentive of 20 per cent rebate was also offered on clearing total outstanding dues up to Aug 15.
However, the facility of 20 per cent down payment and 15 instalments on outstanding dues of more than Rs50,000 while 20 instalments and 20 per cent down payment for the due amount of less than Rs50,000 will continue till Oct 9.
The spokesman added that industrial, commercial, domestic or agricultural consumers with an outstanding amount of Rs5,000 and above would be disconnected. The consumers would be allowed reconnection on payment of 20 per cent of the outstanding amount.
People from Korangi Crossing, Altaf Town, Allahwala Town and adjoining areas complained that there had been at least two prolonged power breakdowns.
