HYDERABAD, Nov 7: The people of Dadu, Shikarpur, and Larkana whose lands have been acquired by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for laying gas pipelines have appealed to the president of Pakistan, Sindh governor, and managing director of the company to pay compensation without delay as they cannot afford to go to Karachi every now and then.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, they said that the shifting of the company’s office from Hyderabad to Karachi had created a host of problems for them.

They pointed out that the revenue department and all other offices of the government including the Sindh High Court, circuit bench, had been established in Hyderabad but the land acquisition office of the SSGC had been shifted to Karachi for unknown reasons.

They demanded that they should be paid compensation in Hyderabad itself as they were not in a position to visit Karachi every now and then.

JSSF ACTIVISTS: A group of activists of Jeay Sindh Students Federation of Ghotki district, staged a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club here on Wednesday against the principal of Degree College, Mirpur Mathelo, Roshan Zamir Khokhar.

Addressing the rally, JSSF Ghotki district president Liaquat Leghari alleged that the principal was misappropriating college funds and he had unleashed harassment against the students.

JSSF vice president Hanif Malik said that the principal had misappropriated mosque funds and due to the shortage of laboratory equipment, students were suffering.

He demanded that the principal should be removed and an inquiry should be held into his alleged corrupt practices.

JSSF general secretary Ramzan Kalwar, Mir Hassan Lashari and Javed Malik also addressed the rally. They said that if the principal was not removed, the federation will launch a protest movement against him.
