PTI pleads provincial autonomy

KHAIRPUR, Aug 15: The chairman, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has said that the PTI supports the provinces and wants maximum power for them.

He said this while on a visit to Khairpur District on Thursday where he addressed gatherings in Sobhodero, Gambat, and Ranipur.

He said that even today the national policy-making process was being influenced by the US as the prices of utilities were being increased to meet the requirements of the IMF and the World Bank.

Addressing a gathering at Dastagir Gate in Ranipur, he said that Pakistan needed larger water reservoirs; therefore, the construction of new dams was necessary.

He said that the land given to generals should be taken back and be allotted to the poor people.

He said that the PTI would not join “any King’s party”.

HEALTH MINISTER: The Sindh minister for health and population, Ahsan Ahmed, has taken serious notice of the non-availability of vaccines for the people bitten by dogs and snakes in Khairpur District. He said that these vaccines were available with the Sindh Health Department and it was the responsibility of the health department officials concerned to ensure the availability of these medicines at local hospitals.

He was speaking at a gathering here during his visit to the district.

The minister received complaints regarding the non-availability of anti-snakebite vaccines in the district, particularly in Nara Taluka.

He appealed to the public to help the government so that the commercial sale of government medicines at the medical stores could be checked.

Referring to the private practice by government employee doctors, he said that it was illegal to call patients at private clinics for treatment by the doctors employed in the government hospitals.

When the minister was told about inefficient doctors and attendants in the Civil Hospital, he said that action would be taken against them if they remained absent from duty.

ACCIDENT: A man, Bhawan Das, was killed while another, Shafi Mohammed, was seriously injured when their motorcycle rammed into a camel cart on the National Highway near Khairpur town on Wednesday.
