HYDERABAD, Aug 15: Independence Day celebrations were held throughout the district on Wednesday with patriotic fervour.

The educational institutions and government and private offices were tastefully decorated with buntings and the national flags.

Special prayers were offered in the mosques for integrity and solidarity of the country.

Several associations brought out processions to mark the event.

Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman and the DCO Mir Hussain Ali hoisted the national flag at a ceremony at Rani Bagh.

The police and the army also celebrated the occasion in a befitting manner in the police line and cantonment area.

The University of Sindh, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, and educational institutions of Hyderabad city held special functions to celebrate Independence Day.

The entire city of Hyderabad, especially the educational institution, were giving a bridal look on the eve of the Independence Day.
