KARACHI: Two persons commit suicide

KARACHI, Aug 15: A young man died in mysterious circumstances in Clifton on Thursday.

Police said the body of the unidentified, 28-year-old man was found from in a park, situated in front of Park Towers in Clifton.

Police said it seemed that some poisonous substance had either been administered to him or he had consumed it. The victim was wearingshalwar-kameez.

A soaked, blood group card was found in his pocket. The entries on it were, however, not legible, a duty officer of the Clifton police station said.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Hospitalfor autopsy, police said.

SUICIDES: Two persons committed suicide in different parts of the city during the last 48 hours.

A woman set herself on fire in her house in Bilal Colony, Korangi, on Wednesday.

Police said that following divorce from her husband, the custody of her five children was given to their father over a year ago. Police said the victim, Parveen, then, too, had tried to commit suicide.

On Wednesday, she poured kerosene on her body and set it on fire. Her neighbours tried to rescue her by breaking the door.

She was rushed to the Jinnah Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the medicolegal officer.

A young man committed suicide in his house in Pak Colony on Wednesday.

Police said Sajjad, 30, hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his house in Hasrat Mohani Colony.

Police said the victim had married a year ago, and a few days back, her wife had left the house for an undisclosed destination. Unable to find her, the dejected Sajjad hanged himself.

His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination, police said.

KILLED: A young boy was killed by a stray bullet in Kalri on Wednesday evening.

Police said Mohammad Saleem, 13, was playing at Maulvi Usman Park, Edhu Lane, Kalri, when a stray bullet hit him.

He was rushed to the Civil Hospital and admitted for treatment.

He died during treatment late Wednesday night.

DIES: Two labourers, injured in a boiler leak in a dying factory in Korangi Industrial Area on Aug 12, died during treatment in the Civil Hospital during the last 48 hours.

They were identified as Naseeb Khan, 20, and Mohammad Saeed, 35.

At least 10 workers suffered burns when a boiler leaked during repairs in the dying factory.

All the injured were admitted to the CHK’s burns ward.

Doctors said almost they all had suffered 70 to 80 per cent burns.
