LAHORE, Aug 12: Amanat Ali Bukhari Club won the Lahore city Independence Day inter-club hockey tournament, defeating Shaheen Club 2-1 in the final at the Punjab University Old Campus ground Monday. The winning team led the first half 2-0.
Muhammad Ayub put Amanat Club ahead in the 15th minute by scoring a goal on solo effort. Accelerating the pace of attack they doubled the lead through Muhammad Ayub in the 25th minute. after getting angular pass from Ghulam Ghous. The lead remained intact till the breather.
After resumption, Shaheen Club reduced the margin when Hafeezullah scored a field goal off a pass from Tahir Anjum in the 50th minute.
Earlier, Pak Hockets got third position after beating Packages Club 3-2.
Waqas Liaqat was declared the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Asif Pervez and Muhammad Ajaz were adjudged as best scorer and player of the tournament.
