ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: The Pakistan People‘s Party (PPP) has protested over the shifting of polling stations in Larkana to new locations.
PPP Spokesman Farhatullah Babar in a statement here, demanding the restoration of old polling stations, condemned this overnight change in Larkana, and alleged that the new venues had been designed to defeat the PPP in the October polls.
HE SAID: “The shifting of polling stations to small villages, where the number of voters registered is less, was advised to discourage the voters to cast their votes”.
The spokesman said that turn out at new polling stations would be below as compared to at the old polling stations as voters would have to travel long distances to cast votes.
The arbitrary and thoughtless changes would hit most severely the poor women of the area who had always voted for the PPP, which, he said, would adversely affect the party candidates.
The PPP has also drawn details of the changed polling stations of NA-207 and NA-166 in Larkana, which are scheduled to be forwarded to the Commonwealth, European Union and the NDI urging them to take up the matter with the Election Commission.
