HYDERABAD, Aug 12: The central committee of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) at a meeting held at Sann on Sunday has announced that keeping in view the philosophy of G. M. Syed, the party would not become a part of any election directly or indirectly.

The speaker of the party, Mansoor Widhiarthi, presided over the meeting.

The meeting observed that due to its large population and military strength Punjab had always denied the historical rights of the oppressed nations and trampled over their national identity.

The meeting pointed out that this was the reason why the founder of the Jeay Sindh Movement, G. M. Syed, after the East Pakistan debacle had rejected any constitutional struggle within the framework of Pakistan and reiterated this demand for the independence of Sindh to protect the natural rights of the Sindhi nation.

However, it regretted that some opportunists by using the name of G. M. Syed were taking part in the elections in the furtherance of their personal interests.

It condemned the construction of the Thal canal and the proposed construction of the Sanjwal, Akhori, Phatkhar, and Dhoke Pathan dams under “Punjab vision 2025”.

STPP ACTIVISTS: Some activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party (STPP), Qasimabad Taluka, observed token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Monday to protest against the arrest of its party leaders — Gulzar Soomro, Eijaz Samtio, Qasim Chandio, and Fateh Shaikh among others — by the SHO, Sachal police station, Karachi, and the raid on its Johar Complex office in Karachi.
