LAHORE, Aug 11: The City District Government concentrated more on the execution of the schemes funded by the federal and the provincial governments than its own annual development programme during the last financial year.
The City District Government had utilized only 63 per cent funds allocated for its annual development programme 2001-02 despite a drastic reduction in the cost of the schemes to be completed under the ADP whereas it utilized 97 per cent funds allocated for the schemes funded by the federal and the provincial governments.
The CDG had approved 1,427 schemes of different departments for execution at a cost of Rs1203.75 million under the ADP during the last financial year.
The cost was revised and reduced to Rs1048.857 million later on. However, only Rs850.529 million could be utilized by the end of the financial year.
On the contrary, the CDG started work on 296 schemes costing Rs215 million funded by the federal and provincial governments during 2001-2 and had completed 276 at a cost of Rs209.03 million by the end of the financial year.
The Punjab government provided Rs721 million to the CDG under the District Provincial Account for development works against Rs994 million expected by it.
It could, however, utilize only Rs426 million or 60 per cent for the execution of 141 schemes.
