AL QUDS, Aug 11: A local court in Nazareth on Sunday charged an Israeli Arab youth with selling stolen army weapons and ammunition to Palestinian “terror activists”, Israeli police announced.

Details of the indictment of Milad Abu Shkara, from Mrar village near the northern city of Nazareth, were made public on Sunday after the presiding judge lifted a gag order banning publication of the information, police spokesman Gil Kleiman told AFP.

Abu Shkara’s indictment was the first to be handed out to four suspects. Among the other three are two Israeli Arabs and a Palestinian.

“A search of the suspects’ houses revealed a large number of weapons, parts of weapons, ammunition and IDF (army) uniforms,” Kleiman said but did not say when exactly the four men had been arrested.

“We suspect they have been transferring weapons and ammunition to Palestinians for use in attacks for which they received tens of thousands of shekels,” he added.

Additional charges will be filed in the coming days, he said, not adding when.

The other three suspects Palestinian Hussein Sawafteh from the West Bank town of Bardela, and two Israeli Arabs also from towns in the northern Israeli region of Upper Galilee — Assad Duwabi from Kfar Misr and Hussein Hayed from Tuba.
