Mother, son die of gastroenteritis

NAWABSHAH, Aug 10: A woman, Zaibul, 35, and her son, Nasir Chandio, 6, died of gastroenteritis in Sanwal Chandio village near Qazi Ahmed on Thursday and Friday.

Gastroenteritis has spread in villages of Qazi Ahmed and more than 300 people of six villages are suffering from the disease.

The villagers, mostly children, of Sanwal Chandio, Dr Abdul Qadir, Makooro, Naban Shah and other villages are among the victims.

When contacted, Dr Nazir Zardari, Executive District Officer, health, Nawabshah, admitted that there were 200 to 300 patients in the villages and a team of doctors was sent there which gave the patients ORS and advised them to drink clean water and avoid eating junk food.
