HYDERABAD, Aug 9: Hyderabad District has become provincial karate champion by securing 23 points with two gold, four silver and one bronze medals in the Independence Day Celebrations Sindh Open Karate Championship 2002, concluded here at Mehran Arts Council Auditorium the other day.

Karachi finished second, securing 17 points with three gold and two bronze medals, while Sukkur clinched third position getting 16 points with two gold and two silver medals.

According to results, Ajay Kumar, Shabbir and Nomi of Hyderabad clinched golds in team kata competition while Khalid Saleem, Iqtidar Ansari and Shahzad of Sukkur and Muhammed Murad, Jameel and Muhammed Fayaz of Nawabshah have secured silver and bronze medals in the team events competition.

In individual kata, Jawwad Iqbal of Karachi clinched the gold medal while Muhammed Asif Memon and Muhammed Tahir both from Hyderabad bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.

In category of below 50 kg of individual kumite, Iqtidar Ansari of Sukkur has clinched gold medal while Rashid-ul-Hassan of Deer and Sunny of Mirpurkhas were stood on second and third securing silver and bronze medals.

In category of below 55 kg, Adnan Akhund of Dadu clinched gold medal while Rahil Ahmed of Hyderabad and Abdul Waheed Mahar of Khairpur secured the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In category of below 60 kg, Abdul Majeed of Mirpurkhas, Muhammed Tahir of Hyderabad and Eid Muhammed of Larkana have clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

In category of below 65 kg, Shahzad of Sukkur, Jawaid Iqbal of Nawabshah and Zeeshan of Karachi have clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

In category of below 70 kg, Muhammed Tariq of Karachi, Kamran Shaikh of Sukkur and Rajoo of Mirpurkhas have clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

In category of below 75 kg of individual kumite, Jawwad Iqbal of Karachi, Naseer Ahmed of Hyderabad and Muhammed Jameel of Nawabshah have clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the open contest, Shabbir Baloch of Hyderabad has clinched gold medal while Rajoo of Mirpurkhas and Farrukh Abbas of Karachi have secured silver and bronze medals respectively.
