India recall ace striker Pillay

BANGALORE, India, Aug 9: Ace Indian striker Dhanraj Pillay has been recalled for the upcoming Champions Trophy field hockey tournament in Germany, the national selectors announced Friday.

The striker, a member of the World Cup squad in Malaysia in March, was dropped for a four-nation tournament in Australia two months later. The selectors also named defender Dilip Tirkey captain.

INDIAN TEAM FOR CHAMPIONS TROPHY:

GOALKEEPERS: Devesh Chauhan, Bharat Chetri.

DEFENDERS: Dilip Tirkey, Jugraj Singh, Kanwalpreet Singh, Dinesh Nayak.

MID-FIELDERS: Sukhbir Singh Gill, Viren Rasquinha, Vikram Pillay, Ignace Tirkey, Bimal Lakra.

FORWARDS: Dhanraj Pillay, Deepak Thakur, Prabhjot Singh, Daljit Singh Dhillon, Gagan Ajit Singh, Arjun Halappa, Tejbir Singh.
