Unfancied Fahad dumps Talal

LAHORE, Aug 9: Unseeded Fahad Ali upset the fifth seed Talal Khan to enter the quarterfinals of the All Punjab Independence Day junior tennis tournament Under-14 event Friday.

Fahad ousted his superior rival Talal with a convincing score of 6-1, 6-1.

The matches could be held only in the morning in which the schedules of Under-14 and Under-12 sections were completed. The entire evening session has been washed out due to heavy rain in the afternoon.

Top seed Shehryar Niazi made short work of Jehangir Haider 6-1, 6-1 and made the last eight.

The second seed Khurram Nazir toppled Rohail Rafi 6-0, 6-1.

The third seed Tanvir Ashiq did not drop any game before beating Haseeb 6-0, 6-0.

Six matches in the second round of boys U-12 singles were also decided.
