KARACHI, Aug 9: Extensive six-day trials to select nine-member Pakistan shooting squad for XIV Asian Games will commence at Naval Shooting Complex Karsaz from Saturday, National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) announced Friday.

Asiad will be held at Busan (South Korea) from Sept 29 to Oct 13.

Thirty top sharp shooters of the country in Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun has been invited for trials.

Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Zahid Ali and Irshad Ali are both are among the probables invited for the trials which will conclude on August 15.

Apart from seven-member men, two women will also be picked the Asian Games. Pakistan team will be picked on the basis of performance and scores in the trials.

Ace skeet shooter Sydney Olympian Khurram Inam, who narrowly missed the Commonwealth Games squad will also be appearing in the trials with Ahmed Sultan and Amin Karamat, who went to figure in CW Games.

Following are probables invited for trials.

PISTOL: Zahid Ali, Irshad Ali, Kashif Riaz, Tariq Manzoor, Idrees Rashid, Muhammad Boota, Afsar Khan, Arshad Awan, Amjad Ali, Mohammed Younus. Mustaqeem Shah, Imran Ali.

WOMEN RIFLE: Nazish Khan, Nadia Saeed and Urooj Fatima. Men Rifle: Dawood Jan, Hanif Khan, Ayaz Tahir, Waseem Sajjad, Muhammad Mushtaq, K.B. Anwar, Muhammad Kaleem, Firdous Khan.

SHOTGUN: Ahmed Sultan, Shaikh Amin Karamat, Khurram Inam, Babar Baig, Amin Ghani, Shahzad Noor and Shafiq Ahmed.—APP
