Revenue officials’ plea dismissed

LAHORE, Aug 9: An accountability court dismissed an application moved by three officials of Bahawalpur revenue department pleading the court to place the complainant of the reference as accused.

The court, while dismissing the application, observed that the application was baseless and not maintainable. It observed that the accused had no legal right to get complainant Nazar Muhammad summoned and get him implicated in the references since the NAB investigation was flawless.

The court observed that there was no evidence on the record to suggest that complainant Nazar had got any pecuniary gain or had abetted the accused to commit the crime.

The three accused had alleged in the application that Nazar was the real culprit and should be summoned to record his statement.

Tehsildar Javed Salim, gardawar Khurshid Ahmad and patwari Tausif Ahmad have been accused of making illegal allotments of 52 kanals land in Bahawalpur. They accepted an illegal gratification of Rs332,000 from one Nazar Muhammad for the allotment of the land worth Rs7.8 million.
