SAHIWAL, Aug 9: The Punjab government has asked the district governments to revive district price control committees.

A circular issued by the government stated that the price control committees be immediately revived at the district levels and lists of nominees be provided to the government.

BAN LIFTED: The Punjab government has lifted ban on grants under Khushal Pakistan programme to use the funds for rural electrification.

A notification has been issued by the Punjab governor on Friday. It said 30 per cent of the grant could be used for electrification by the Nazimeen in rural areas.

Districts of Attock, Chakwal and Dera Ghazi Khan have been given 40 per cent of the grant which may be used for the rural area electrification.

BURIED ALIVE: Dera Rahim police arrested a woman and her alleged lover on the charge of murdering and burying their child born out of wedlock after recovering the body of the newborn.

A nurse who helped the girl in child birth told police that Nooran of Chak 98/9-L loved one Alamgir of her village. But her parents married her to a man of their choice. Nooran returned to her parents’ house after quarrelling with her husband.

She claimed that Nooran developed relations with Alamgir again. Nooran gave birth to a child a few days ago in her house. Nooran and Alamgir buried their newborn child in sugarcane fields, she alleged.

Police have arrested both the accused and are investigating.
