RAWALPINDI, Aug 9: The only peaceful and acceptable solution to Kashmir issue is to implement the UN resolutions in the held valley.
This was said by Lord Nazir Ahmad, member of the British Parliament, on Friday. He was speaking at a seminar on, “the freedom struggle of Kashmiris at the diplomatic fronts”, organized by Kashmir Journalist Forum (KJF), at Rawalpindi- Islamabad Press Club.
He said if the UN resolutions could be implemented in East Timor and Iraq then why not in Kashmir, that was facing the worst type of Indian state terrorism.
Mr Nazir said the pros and cons of politics at the international level were far different from those practised in our street politics. He lamented the lack of diplomatic acumen, political dexterity and proper management while propagating Kashmir cause in the West.
He said the funds were just wasted by the political figures for their vested interests, whenever they visited Europe for spreading awareness about the Kashmir issue.
He added that funds worth millions of rupees were wasted by the political leaders while organizing dinners and lunches at the costly hotels of United Kingdom in the name of Kashmir cause.
There was no auditing and check, while spending the money of Jihad and Zakat funds for the promotion of self-interests and political gains, Mr Nazir said.
He said those who were sent abroad to fight on diplomatic fronts for Kashmir cause were not even able to face the international media, while providing proofs and statistics about the Indian atrocities in the held valley.
Unfortunately, he said, due to ill-planning of the government, the media in Pakistan lacked credibility and planning, and had failed to highlight the miseries of the Kashmiris at the international scene.
He added that proper short-term and long-term planning was required to launch a diplomatic and media campaign for highlighting an issue. He said due to lack of such a planning in Pakistan, the western people were still not clear about the political status of those who fought for the liberation of Kashmir.
Mr Nazir maintained that the demands of Kashmiris were just and according to the human rights charter of the UN. But, to successfully fight for it, honesty and determination is required, he added.
Kashmiris wanted peace, but not at the cost of freedom, he said, adding that he had tried his best to highlight the grievances of the Kashmiris in the UK. He said from August 12, they would launch a bus service between Srinagar and Muzafarabad for restoring peace between India Pakistan.
In this connection, a bus tour, starting from England, will complete a round of Europe for highlighting the just struggle of Kashmiris.
Speaking on the occasion, Kashmir Journalists Forum president Shaukat Malik feared the wastage of Rs2.3 million, recently sanctioned by the AJK parliament, for the promotion of Kashmir issue in Europe.
