KARACHI, Aug 9: Reckless driving claimed four lives in the city on Friday.

A truck cleaner died and two others were injured in a road accident near Tower in early morning.

Police said that an oil tanker (LX-6946) overturned near Tower in the police limits of Kharadar killing its cleaner, Ijaz, aged 35. The body was sent to Civil Hospital for autopsy.

Two pedestrians, identified as Junaid Shah and Nadeem, were also injured in the accident. They were admitted to Civil Hospital.

A man died when he fell from a bus of route 7-C in SITE area. Police said that Mohammed Azam, aged 35, fell from the moving in the morning. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

A man died in a road accident near Lasbella bridge. Police said that Ibrahim, aged 35, was knocked down by a speeding vehicle near Lasbella bridge.

He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

A young man died in a road accident in Defence on late Thursday night.

Police said that Babar Khan, aged 22, was run over by an unidentified speeding vehicle. He was rushed to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Four persons, including a teenage boy, were injured in a road accident on Khayaban-i-Jami in Clifton in the morning.

Police said that four persons were injured when a pick-up truck carrying fish was hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle near the Boat Basin roundabout on Khayaban-i-Jami.

The injured, identified as Juma Khan, Sohail, Waris and Naveed, were rushed to the JPMC where they were admitted.

SUICIDE: A housewife committed suicide in her house in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Friday.

Police said that Shahnaz Akhtar, aged 40, hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her room in Rabia City, Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

Police said that the woman left a suicide note, saying that she was ending her life due to financial difficulties. She had obtained a loan and was not in a position to return it.

In the note she sought forgiveness from the lenders, with a request that her mother and brothers should not be bothered in this connection.

Police said that the dead woman had two children by her first husband and one by her second husband.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post- mortem examination.

SHOT DEAD: A young man was shot dead in Martin Quarters on early Friday morning.

Police said that Fazal alias Babu, aged 20, was shot dead by unidentified men outside his house in Martin Quarters. The assailants escaped. The young man suffered multiple bullet injuries. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police could not ascertain the motive for the killing till our going to the press. Police, however, said that the victim dealt in old motorcycles and the killing appeared to be linked with money transaction.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man died when a live electric wire fell on him in Pirabad on late Thursday night.

Police said that Mohammed Ilyas, aged 20, was sitting in a park in Bukhari Colony, Pirabad, when a wire from a pole-mounted transformer snapped and fell on him. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
