KARACHI, Aug 7: Squash legend Jahangir Khan said that he was greatly disappointed with the performance of Pakistani boys in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

“They lacked enthusiasm and fighting spirit, required to bring fruitful results in the competition” he said Wednesday his return from England where he was specially invited to distribute the medals after the women’s squash final of the games.

Jahangir, who dominated the world squash arena for nearly two decades said none of the four member squad including Mansoor Zaman, Shahid Zaman, Farrukh Zaman and Shams-ur-Rehman showed any guts and encouraging results.

He maintained that he watched some of matches of Pakistan team but their body language was nothing. “Players doesn’t looked keen” he observed.

Record ten-time British Open Champion, who is also the Vice President of World Squash Federation said squash is now getting more important as it has been included in CW Games, Asian Games and at the verge of being included in future Olympics.

He said he feel dejected that squash was not included in these games when he was active and at the peak of his career in sport otherwise, he would have brought more honors and glory to the country.

He said he will be conveying his feeling and observations during the meeting of Pakistan Squash Federation of which he also happened to the Vice President.—APP
