LAHORE, Aug 7: Punjab Football Association (PFA) will organise four back-to-back All-Pakistan floodlit tournaments in one month to revive the game on solid lines and to span the football activities to all parts of the province.

This was stated by Arshad Khan Lodhi, President PFA while addressing a press conference after the general council meeting of the PFA here Wednesday at National Hockey Stadium.

He said the tournaments will help in drawing up a comprehensive activity plan as the events are being organised at different centres.

“ We fixed the dates of these premier events besides chalking out activity programme at district level to overall lift the game “,he said.

He said the activity programme kicks off with the All-Pakistan tournament at Faisalabad from Aug 16-23, All Pakistan tournament at Sheikhupura from Aug 23 to Sept 1, All-Pakistan tournament at Multan from Sept 6-15, All-Pakistan Major Tufail Shaheed tournament at Tufailabad from Sept 16.

“ These tournaments will be participated by all the four provinces,Wapda, Army, KRL, PTCL, NBP, Navy, Crescent Mills Club”, he said.

Lodhi who was elected President of the body March last in absentia, said his election was held according to the new sports policy as he qualifies for the post for not completing two successive terms in office.

President PFA said Pakistan Sports Board has also declared their elections genuine.

“ Punjab and NWFP are the two provincial bodies whose elections were held in line with the sports policy whereas the PSB has not accepted the elections in Balochistan and Sindh Association “,he said.

He said until the two bodies of Balochistan and Sindh are not cleared by the PSB the elections of the Pakistan Football Federation which are due cannot take place.

PFA chief said the new sports policy has been fully implemented in the body and all the activities are being revived at district level to give equal recognition to the 34 districts of the province.

Lodhi said a six member committee headed by Qari Anwar Ullah Khan has been constituted to divide all the 34 district in zones to evolve a activity programme which includes inter district championship followed by a main zonal championship.

“ The committee has been given a dead line of one month for dividing districts in zones after which inter district events will begin at all centres “,he maintained.

He said the PFA will also organise under-16 club championship to tap fresh talent and to groom it for future needs besides launching under-14,17 and finally under-19 programme to broaden the base of the game by having a reservoir of talented players.
