Landlord killed in kidnap attempt

SUKKUR, Aug 7: A landlord of Bukshapur, Shah Baig Misrani, was gunned down by some armed men on Wednesday in village Maher Khan Mamdani, Jacobabad District.

Reports reaching here said that seven armed persons had attacked on his house, tried to kidnap him and when he offered resistance, they opened fire killing him on the spot.

Police have registered a case and started probe into the murder. They alleged that the Khoso tribe was involved in the crime.

POLICEMEN JAILED: Sukkur Range DIG Mushtaq Shah on Wednesday sent two police officials behind the bars for allegedly taking bribe.

Report said that Ghotki Sub-Inspector Ali Haider Rind and ASI Noor Ahmed Junejo had taken Rs1,25,000 bribe from Bashir Ahmed Chachar to favour him in a murder case.

PROTEST HELD: At least 200 political and social activists belonging to the PPP (SB), Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party (STPP), and the Citizens Action Committee staged a protest demonstration in front of the Jacobabad Press Club on Tuesday against the deteriorating law and order situation in the district.
