TIMERGARA, Aug 7: The degree college for girls in Timergara is in bad shape and functioning without teachers for science subjects for the last four years.

The college, which caters to the entire population of Lower Dir, lacks science laboratories and other facilities as well.

Sources said despite a lapse of four years, education authorities have failed to appoint teachers for many subjects.

They said despite repeated demands by the elders and the local government no step has been taken to fill the vacant posts.

Some of the parents told Dawn that the issue of non-availability of science teachers was also brought to the notice of the provincial governor but it seemed that another year of the students would waste before any action could be taken.

The parents said they had to send their daughters to Mingora, Mardan and Peshawar for further education despite many social and economic difficulties they had to encounter in the process.
