RAWALPINDI, Aug 7: The Tehsil Nazim, Raja Hamid Nawaz, has reiterated his resolve to remove encroachments from the city.

Talking to a group of traders at his office on Wednesday, he said that no pressure would be accepted while removing the encroachments.

All forms of corruption would be rooted out from the tehsil, he added.

“Apart from blocking the roads and creating traffic hurdles, encroachments also causes raise in the prices of different commodities. People seldom come to the over-crowded markets and prefer to go the other places for shopping, where prices are rather high”, the Nazim said.

He stressed on the traders to cooperate with the administration in removing the encroachments, and said strict action would be taken against any of the Tehsil Municipal Administration employee, if found involved in encouraging encroachments.

The Nazim asked the trading community to point out such elements who accept bribes to give the encroachers a free hand.

Mr Hamid also blamed the traders for taking a fixed rent from the encroachers, thus encouraging their activities.

“I have received a report, which puts the blame on the concerned shopkeepers, who provide assistance to the encroachers in return for a fixed amount of money every month, he said.
