KARACHI: Payment of stamp duty

KARACHI, Aug 7: The Sindh government has granted permission to the extent of 50 per cent from the payment of stamp duty leviable under a notification of the Board of Revenue, for a period of 30 years from the date of coming into force of this notification.

This facility has been allowed in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 9 of the Stamp Act, 1899, and in pursuance of the provision of Clause (1) Section 2 of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2001.

This facility shall be available to:

(a) Holders of Form VII owning agriculture land in total urban jurisdiction of the Karachi city district government.

(b) After expiry of the stipulated period of 30 days of issuance of this notification, all lands in the jurisdiction of the Karachi city district government shall be liable to full stamp duty as in Appendix “A” of notification no. IGS/BOR/2000-849 dated 10.07.2000.

(c) All holders of Form VII agriculture lands in the jurisdiction of the city district government are notified that this is a one-time relief and no extension in the period shall be allowed/granted or extended and

(d) In case the holders of Form VII do not avail of this opportunity, their cases, if detected to be violating or flouting rules, regulations, standing instructions, etc, shall be liable for prosecution/legal action, etc, under the relevant laws.

This notification shall come into force at once.—APP
