ISLAMABAD, Aug 3: The federal interior minister, Lt-Gen Moinuddin Haider (retired), has briefed the visiting French foreign minister, Dominique de Villepin, about the steps taken by the government in the fight against terrorism.

During a meeting held here on Saturday, the minister reiterated the government’s resolve to fight terrorism and assured its full support to the international coalition.

The progress made in the investigation of the May 8 bomb blast outside a hotel in Karachi, which resulted in the death of 11 French nationals, was also reviewed.

Mr Villepin expressed satisfaction on the progress made so far in the investigations and hoped that the culprits would soon be apprehended.
