PESHAWAR, Aug 1: City police arrested two smugglers and seized 259kg hashish, 19 pistols and 386 cartridges from their possession.

The Hayatabad police on a tip off signalled a car (IDJ 2595) to stop near Hayatabad check post, but the car instead of stopping sped off.

The police followed the car and arrested two persons, Aminullah and Izzat Khan, both Afghan refugees, and recovered the contraband concealed in the specially created cavities of the car.

APP adds: Nowshera police have seized charas and foreign goods and arrested five accused.

The Aza Khel police, on the basis of a tip-off, stopped a jeep (2478) going from Nowshera to Peshawar on Grand Trunk Road an seized during search 3kg of charas and four fake number-plates.

Two official plates of Peshawar and Islamabad were also seized.

Police arrested Sikander, Sartaj and Mussam Khan.

The police seized foreign goods, including cloth, soap and other items, worth Rs500,000 from a Lahore-bound bus (RIR 9528) and arrested two persons.
