JHANG, July 31: District Nazim Sahibzada Sultan Hameed at a council’s session on Tuesday presented Rs2.244 billion tax-free budget for 2002-03.
Spelling out the details, he said the government had contributed a sum of Rs1.975 billion while the district government had Rs248.4 million basic capital at its disposal. The council had collected Rs26.7 million through its own resources, he added.
He said the government had earmarked a sum of Rs613.3 million for various development projects and Rs1.795 billion for non-development expenditure.
Of the allocation for non-expenditure, he said Rs1.661 billion would be spent on the salaries of the employees of 10 departments under the district government and Rs25.6 million had been allocated for the salaries of the employees of health and education departments under the three municipal administrations of the district.
DEATH SENTENCE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Amjad Pervez on Wednesday awarded death sentence to two persons for killing a man over a dispute in June 2000.
Convicts Muhammad Iqbal and Ghulam Abbas, residents of Bagh Town, would have to pay a fine of Rs100,000 each to the legal heirs of the deceased or to undergo imprisonment for six months each.
The court acquitted 10 accused for want of evidence against them.
