SIALKOT, July 31: An elderly woman and her young son were tortured to death while her daughter was injured seriously late Tuesday by bandits on resistance during a dacoity bid in Mussadgarh village, Narowal district.
Four unidentified armed dacoits entered Saeen Ahmad’s house by scaling the boundary wall, woke up the inmates, made them hostage and started scooping cash and valuables. They severely thrashed the landlord’s wife, his son Nadeem Abbas and daughter with butts of rifles, iron rods and hockey sticks for putting up resistance. In consequence, Ahmad’s wife and his son Abbas died while his daughter sustained severe injuries. The dacoits-cum-killers escaped with the ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Rs1 million. The injured was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.
Zafarwal police have registered a case.
CONDEMNED: Hundreds of devotees have strongly condemned the murder of Pir Muhammad Bashir, the younger brother and Gaddi Nashin of Harmal Sharif’s Sajjada Nashin.
Pir Bashir and his devotee Muhammad Zubair were shot dead at Adda Begowala in Daska tehsil by their opponents over a land dispute late Tuesday.
Begowala police have registered a double murder case against the two nominated accused, Ramzan and Tariq.
Earlier, Pir Muhammad Bashir was laid to rest on Wednesday in his native graveyard at Nandgarh (Noorpur Sayedan), Mandi Bahauddin district.
Begowala police had handed over the bodies to their heirs for burial after autopsy.
PROTEST: The Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has observed Youm-i-Ehtijaj on Wednesday in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
According to the PTU press release, the teachers strongly condemned the police baton-charge on innocent teachers in Lahore, demanding a strict probe against the officials involved in the incident.
The protesting teachers in various agitational meetings pledged to continue their protest against the denationalization of educational institutions till the withdrawal of the decision.
