KARACHI, July 31: At least 18 vehicles — seven cars and 11 motorcycles — were taken away by bandits in the city on Wednesday.

Five cars were hijacked and two stolen while three motorcycles were hijacked and eight were stolen in the city. Police claimed recovery of four cars and three motorcycles.

CRUSHED: A young man was crushed by a train near Landhi railway station on Wednesday.

Police said that the man in his mid 30s was trying to cross the railway tracks when he lost his life. The victim could not be identified.

BURN WOUNDS: A young girl suffered burn wounds in her home in New Karachi on Wednesday.

Police said Taranum, 19, was preparing meals in her home in sector 11-D when her clothes caught fire.

She suffered serious burns and was rushed to the Abbasi Hospital by her father Dr Ishaq, where she was admitted for treatment.

INJURED: A man was injured by decoits when he tried to resist them during a robbery bid in Korangi Industrial Area.

Police said four men barged into the house of Muzzaffar Shah in Bilal Colony and demanded cash and valuables from the inmates. Muzzaffar Shah offered resistance on which suspects stabbed him and escaped.
