HYDERABAD, July 31: The breach, that occurred in the Rohri Canal on Sunday night, has not been plugged so far but there are some indications that it will be plugged on Thursday.

Reports from Bhit Shah suggest that the flow of water is lessening in the Rohri Canal, so the workers can plug the breach more easily.

The wood fencing, coupled with throwing of gunny bags, filled with earth, has almost been completed.

The waterflow, heading towards the National Highway from Khando side, has been stopped 100 feet away from the highway.

The embankment of Wassan Minor has further been raised in order to contain the level of water which was increasing till Tuesday.

Irrigation authorities have provided 12 pumping machines to drain out stagnant water. Reports suggest that the stagnant water will cause loss to houses in different affected villages.

The waterflow towards Bhit Shah from Lakhisar Minor has also been contained.

Six pumping machines were installed at Lakhisar Minor to drain out water and divert the same for irrigation purposes in different distributaries.

Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro is scheduled to visit Bhit Shah on Thursday morning.

According to DCO Mir Hussain Ali, Rs5 million have been granted for the relief activities.
