KARACHI, July 31: The Mohajir Qaumi Movement on Wednesday said that the recent increase in action by the government agencies against the party was tantamount to preventing it from political activities.

Speaking at a press conference, joint secretary of the party, Iqbal Qureshi, said that despite changes in the governments there had been no change in the policy towards the MQM (H) and the Muhajirs.

“The arrests of 100 activists of the party, including 4 members of the central executive committee, show that the persecution of the Muhajirs continues”, he said.

He said that on July 18 the Malir sector office was attacked. An FIR was lodged at the Sauadbad police station, but to no avail. The sector office was closed.

He said that under enormous pressure from party workers and supporters, efforts were made to open the Malir sector office, but senior leaders and workers were arrested when they reached to reopen the office.
