KARACHI, July 27: A young housewife committed suicide in her house in Mehmoodabad on late Friday night.

The police said that Shazia, aged 30, consumed poison after a quarrel with her husband. She was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The police said that the couple were married recently.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: A young man and a small boy fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Saturday.

A seven-year-old boy died in a road accident in Quaidabad.

The police said that Abdul Hameed was run over by a speeding minibus of route D-7 while walking across the main road in Majeed Colony. He was rushed to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A young motorcyclist died in a road accident in Shah Latif Town. The police said that Javed Ali, aged 35, was hit by a speeding bus. He died on the spot. The bus driver drove away after the accident.

Javed Ali’s body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

An elderly man died in a road accident on Super Highway.

The police said that Dr Ismail, aged 80, was driving alone to Hyderabad when his car went out of control and overturned near New Sabzimandi on Super Highway. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Dr Ismail was resident of Chaudhry Rehmat Ali Road, Bath Island, Karachi.

He was the head of the department of surgery at Isra University.

SHOT DEAD: A young man shot his mother to death at Banaras Chowk on late Friday night.

The police said that Bashir Ahmed, aged 17, opened fire on his mother, Shaheena, aged 49, while travelling on a taxi. Bashir escaped.

The woman was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The police said that the absconding suspect was a drug addict, and he shot dead his mother when she refused to give him money to buy drugs.
