KARACHI, July 26: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Muhammed Riaz Shaikh, acquitted on Friday five men in a house robbery case.
The judge exonerated Shahzad alias Tikori, Shahid Ali, Muhammed Shahid alias Taba, Shahjahan and Shakeel Ahmed from the charges as the prosecution could not prove its case against the accused persons.
The five were prosecuted for committing robbery at the house of Muhammed Shahzad in Liaquatabad on January 14, 1998.
BAIL GRANTED: The additional district and sessions judge, East, Rasheed A. Soomro, granted bail-before- arrest to chairman, vice-chairman and general-secretary of the Liaquat National Memorial Hospital’s employees union.
The union leaders were recently booked in a case by the New Town police on the complaint of one of the hospital’s security guards. Security guard Maqsood-ur-Rahman alleged that the union leaders were harassing him.
BAILABLE WARRANTS: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, issued bailable warrants for the arrest of five police officials for not attending the court despite several notices.
The judge also ordered the deduction of Rs5,000 each from the salaries of inspectors Ghazanfer Kazmi, Anwar Ahmed and Pervaiz Akhter, and constables Akhtar Hussain and Kher Muhammed.
The policemen were required by the court for their evidence in a case.
