LAHORE, Nov 5: A man allegedly clubbed to death his wife over suspicion of loose morals in Keerkalan, Green Town, on Monday.
Police said some of the neighbours of Rukhsana, 35, handed over her husband Mukhtar, 42, to them while he was trying to flee from the scene.
He told police that his wife had relations with a man who had been a regular visitor to his house. He said he had restrained his wife from meeting the man but to no avail.
Mukhtar claimed the man again visited her on Monday. He said he got infuriated on seeing the man and attacked his wife with a club. She sustained serious injuries and died on way to a nearby hospital.
The family of Rukhsana, however, said Mukhtar had been forcing her to earn Rs500 daily, come what may. She had been working as a maidservant for some months but could not meet the demand of her husband.
Rukhsana has left behind five children. Her body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.
BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified man, about 35, was found near a railway crossing in Raiwind.
Police said the body had a bullet wound in the chest. No papers were found from the dead man to establish his identity.
The body was sent to the city morgue for autopsy.
