MUZAFFARABAD, July 24: Muttahida Jihad Council (MJC) chairman Syed Salahuddin on Wednesday said the political leadership and Jihadi outfits were struggling against India in harmony and understanding with each other.

“There is no confrontation or disagreement between the Mujahideen and the political leadership of Kashmir regarding the goal and targets of the freedom struggle,” he said in a telephonic talk with Dawn.

Salahuddin, supreme commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, said: “The struggle in held Kashmir both at the political and militancy’s level is aimed at getting the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination recognized and seeking complete independence from India.”

“The All Parties Hurriyat Conference is struggling at political level whereas the Mujahideen are fighting in the field to achieve the goal,” he said.

It was believed that his comments were aimed at pacifying the APHC. Last month, the Muttahida Jihad Council warned the Hurriyat leadership against “losing the position of political representatives of the Kashmiris, if they did not take a clear line regarding the so-called elections in held Kashmir by launching a vigorous anti-polls campaign.”

He said constructive criticism was the essence of any collective movement and pinpointing errors was a mean to ensure that no one deviated from the right track.

The MJC chief said around 350,000 Kashmiris had offered their lives for the cause of freedom since 1947 and their sacrifices were continuing.

“No sensible and reasonable person can allow anyone to sell out these sacrifices,” the MJC leader said.
