KARACHI, July 22:Twenty one vehicles — five cars and 16 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, the police said.

Two cars were hijacked and three others stolen in various parts of the city, including Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar and North Nazimabad Towns.

Seven motorcycles were hijacked and nine others stolen in several localities, including Soldier Bazaar, Kalri, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Landhi, Clifton, Nazimabad, Samanabad and Malir.

The police also claimed to have recovered a four-wheeler (KF-5670) and four motorcycle.

Kidnapped: A collector of Pakistan Customs, exports, has been kidnapped apparently for ransom.

Sources said Aftab Ahmed Baloch went out of his Clifton home on Saturday for a walk in Nisar Shaheed Park, near his bungalow.

The sources close to the family said when Mr Baloch did not return home for a long time, the family got worried. In the meantime, an anonymous caller rang up from a public call office and said: “We have kidnapped Aftab Baloch and he is with us.” He hung up the telephone without listening to the other side.

The sources said it was a daily routine of Aftab Baloch to go out for a walk in the Nisar Shaheed Park.

The suspected kidnappers had not contacted the family till late on Monday night.
