MIRPURKHAS July 19: A large number of consumers have strongly condemned the ongoing disconnection drive by the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) in this division.

The Hesco staff discontinued power supply to hundreds of consumers without giving them any chance to justify arrears appearing on their bills.

Recording their complaints at the XEN office here on Friday, the consumers said that the Hesco itself had divided their arrears in easy instalments.

They said they were paying the instalments with current bill amount regularly but Hesco staff discontinued the power supply which was illegal.

They quoted the Hesco staff as telling them that the action was being taken on the ‘verbal order’ of the chief executive.

Some of the complainants said that the Hesco staff informed them that their chief executive had ordered withdrawal of sanctioned instalments.
