HYDERABAD, July 18: The allotees of Daman-e-Kohsar housing scheme under the banner of the Allotees Action Committee took out a procession here to protest against fresh demand for additional payment.
The procession started from Haider Chowk and after marching on Risala Road terminated at the local press club.
Talking to newsmen, the general secretary of the action committee, Syed Jameelur Rehman, and others said that they had struggled for the restoration of the housing scheme for the last three years as a result the governor restored the housing scheme.
However, they deplored that the allotees were now being asked to make additional payment.
They said that the Sindh Board of Revenue constituted a committee to settle the issue of the additional payment, which was without any justification.
They pointed out that eight years back the allotees purchased the plots at a very high cost of Rs300 per square yard and added that there was no mention of any additional payment in the agreement.
They warned that if the problem of 661 allotees was not resolved they would be forced to stage protest demonstrations and hunger strikes and some of them may even commit self-immolation in protest.
