MIRPURKHAS, July 17: On the directives of the additional secretary and the chairman, Adulteration Committee, Sindh, a team of plant protection officers along with a heavy contingent of police raided a factory in the Abdul Sattar Jut village, deh 187, Digri Taluka, arrested its owner, Liaquat Ali Arain, and recovered spurious pesticides on Wednesday.

The raiding team was led by the assistant director, Agriculture, Mirpurkhas, Dodo Khan Leghari, and the assistant director, Agriculture Extension, Digri, Yar Mohammed Khaskheli.

The police recovered a huge quantity of spurious pesticides, a truck containing sand, a drum, 50 bags containing granules, seven bags of Indian chemicals, and an electric sewing mach-ine.

DEFAULTERS: Fourteen defaulters and guarantors of the Muslim Commercial Bank, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, and Badin districts have been issued arrest warrants by the Banking Court Hyderabad and directed to appear before the court by July 28.

The proceedings in the banking court had been going on for the last several months.

The names of the defaulters and guarantors are Ali Nawaz Junejo, Ali Anwar Junejo, (arrears Rs900,000), the former SDM Ghulam M. Memon, Rasheed General Store (Rs100,000), Aijaz Malkani (Rs100,000), Mirza Shahid Baig, Jabbar Qureshi (Rs400,000), Maroof Mangrio (Rs300,000), Abdul Rehman Rajar, vehicle tax in charge, excise office, Hyderabad (Rs500,000), M. Khan Bhurgari (Rs1,000,000), Jam Pahore (Rs600,000), Choudhry M. Aslam (Rs200,000), Saeed Zaman, contractor (Rs600,000), and Mir Taj M. Talpur (Rs400,000).

WOMEN’S ROLE: Seminars on women’s role in politics and political awareness were held at the Doulat Leghari, Khan, and Khiraho Shakh union councils by the SPO with the collaboration of the Sindh Rural Partners Organization (SRPO) on Wednesday.

Speaking at the seminars, the chairperson of the SRPO, Zahida Detho, Sadia Memon of the SPO, and Rasheed Mahar said women have an important role to play in our society as their right of vote can bring a change.
