HYDERABAD, July 17: Unknown highwaymen hijacked an oil tanker, with its driver and a cleaner, but police engaged the outlaws in an encounter and rescued them on Tuesday night.
Hatri police said that the tanker, carrying 25,000 litres of oil, was on its way to Shikarpur when intercepted at Sekhat by the highwaymen. The driver, Saleem Khan, and the cleaner, Waliullah, were held at gunpoint and ordered to follow them into Katcha area.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the area and challenged the outlaws. An encounter between the two sides ensued at Jhandan Mori, police claimed adding that some shots smashed windowpanes of the SHO’s vehicle. The outlaws fled from the scene, they said, leaving behind the vehicle and both the hostages.
The suspects have been rounded up afterwards but their names have not been disclosed.

The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCC&I) has moved the Central Board of Revenue, Islamabad, requesting to issue instructions to the manufacturers not to charge the additional sales tax but so far no action has been taken.
