KARACHI, July 15: Daily Dawn and Radio Pakistan entered the semifinals of second NBP Inter-media cricket tournament after winning their matches in contrasting fashion at NBP Sports Complex Ground Monday.
Opener Irfan Ali smashed an unbeaten 96 off 66 balls with 11 boundaries and three sixes as Dawn beat Daily Awam by eight wickets to clinch the man of the match award.
Paceman Abdul Hameed snapped-up four wickets for 17 runs to bowl out Awam for 146 in 23rd over. Faheem Akhtar topscored 49 with seven 4s.
Dawn in reply romped home for the loss of just two wickets in 18th over.
In the second match of the day, Radio Pakistan registered an exciting seven runs victory over Daily Ummat thanks to a fine spell of bowling by Muhammad Kamran, who claimed four wickets for just 12 runs with his medium pacers.
Batting first, Radio Pakistan were bowled out for 163 in 25th over. Opener Anis-ur-Rehman made 41 while Extras were 37.
Ummat in reply were restricted to 156-8 in 25 over. Murtuza Zulfi making an unbeaten 43 with three 4s. Kamran and Anis were jointly declared Man of the Match.
