Kamran and Sami shine

KARACHI, July 14: Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) went down fighting by 15 runs against group “D” champions The News in the final league game of the NBP inter-media cricket tournament at PCB academy ground Sunday.

The News, batting first, collected 172 for seven in 25 overs with Kamran Khan making a sedate 51 with three boundaries. Shailat Khan hit 44 off 35 balls that included a six and three boundaries.

Off-spinner Ghulam Mustufa took two wickets for 35 runs and leg spinner grabbed 2-39.

APP, in reply, were restricted to 146 for seven in their 25 overs with off-spinner Sami-ul-Hai taking four wickets for 32 runs.

Openers Saeed Ahmed and Ghulam Mustufa Aziz gave APP a flying start of 70 runs in 12.3 overs but rest of the batting failed to keep up the tempo.— APP
