KARACHI, July 13: The Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Livestock (MINFA) will provide a grant of Rs 6.2 million to Hamdard University for the promotion of herbal medicine in the country.
The minister for Food and Agriculture, Khair Mohammad Junejo, speaking at the signing ceremony of a memorandum here on Saturday, said MINFA was all out for enhancing and increasing research in herbal medicines.
This project, he said, would not only help in research for human health but also promote prosperity through increased use of herbal medicines in the country.
He said the project had the importance due to its utility for human health.
Mr Junejo said the agriculture sector provided vast resources of raw materials for herbal products.
He said Balochistan was rich in herbs and Hamdard University must pay attention to this area.
He said the government would provide all possible support to projects that gave life to mankind.
Earlier, vice chancellor of City Campus of Hamdard University, Dr Ismail, told the minister about the salient features of the university.—APP
