LAHORE, July 13: PML(QA) chief Mian Muhammad Azhar has said the so-called champions of public politics are looking for excuses to boycott polls to escape the wrath of the masses.

Talking to party office-bearers and former MPs at his residence here on Saturday, he said these politicians should, under democratic norms, contest the elections so that they could test their popularity among the masses, says a statement.

The people demanding Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country should urge both the leaders to come back and face courts, he said, adding their corruption was the only hurdle in their return.

Azhar said the Muslim League would continue to respect and consult the MPs hit by the eligibility bar in framing various policies.
