MIRPURKHAS, July 12: The transporters are charging excess fare illegally on different routes creating difficulties for the passengers.
The transporters have increased the fare from Rs25 to Rs30 on various routes, including Mirpurkhas to Khipro, Mirpurkhas to Sanghar, Mirpurkhas to Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas to Umerkot, Mirpurkhas to Tharparkar, etc.
As a result of this the passengers are facing financial problems.
Some passengers while talking to newsmen on Friday complained that the transporters were paying illegal gratification to the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Mirpurkhas, so as to keep him silent for increasing the fare.
Several passengers, including Jaffar Shah and Akbar Pathan, have strongly condemned the illegal practice of the transporters’ mafia and the discreet silence of the RTA, Mirpurkhas.
They lamented that the passengers could not shoulder an additional burden as the agricultural and industrial activity of their area had already reached zero point due to the acute shortage of water.
They appealed to the governor of Sindh and higher authorities to take strict notice of the matter.
They demanded the action against the corrupt in charge officer of the RTA, Mirpurkhas, and the restoration of old fares.
