KARACHI: Garbage removed

Published July 13, 2002

KARACHI, July 12: The administration of Jamshed Town has said it removed garbage dumps and waste materials from under the Tin Hatti bridge.

The work was carried out on an emergency basis and with the use of dumpers, loaders and bob cats.

A large number of sanitary workers was deployed for the purpose after which the entire portion under the bridge was cleared of garbage.

However, according to the Town administration, the Afghan scavengers were still throwing rubbish material under the bridge.

They said it was because of this factor that fire again erupted there.

The Town administration has demanded establishment of a police picket in the bridge to check dumping of waste material. —APP
