KARACHI, July 12: Seven ships carrying containers and chemicals are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was slow where only one container vessels, MSC Cerman to unload and load containers was berthed after the sailing of eight.
The ships, which departed were led by Hammurabi, Bunga Mas Satu, Saf Marine Wami, Swat, Sima Kija, Karine, Furkang Shan and L.M.Z. Evina, while Happy River and Banglar Doot are due to sail out on Saturday.
The berthing occupancy at the oil berths was 33 per cent and on the dry wharves at 50 per cent.
A total tonnage of 68,060 tons comprising 20,751 tons of export cargo including 724 tons of rice and 47,309 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Saturday: Keefan, with high speed diesel, Pinta, with furnace, Med Keelung, Hyundai Advance, Conti Varengia, and Parvat, with containers, Ievoli Shine with chemicals.
KARACHI, July 12: Two ships carrying containers and furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Fotco Oil Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Friday.
Meanwhile, two more ships, Jupit Applause with coal and Enerdale carrying liquefied petroleum gas also arrived at the outer anchorage and were expected to take berths on Friday.
Eight ships, Hijaz, Centaurus, Nats Emperor, Safmarine Victory, Francisca Schulte, Venture and Miyama-I were at the wharves loading and offloading wheat, containers, chemicals, furnace oil and iron ore.
The cargo handling activity was remained brisk at the port where a total cargo volume of 50,525 tons comprising 42,882 tons of import cargo and 7,643 tons of export cargo, in addition to 778 containers (Teus), was handled.
